Joni Mosely is an experienced litigator who has served as lead counsel in numerous jury trials since becoming a member of the Florida Bar in 2003. Ms. Mosely has handled personal injury, medical malpractice, auto accidents, negligent security, premises liability, automobile negligence, false arrest, malicious prosecution, wage theft, overtime, and discrimination cases in both state and federal court. Ms. Mosely is also an experienced appellate attorney and has successfully argued before the Florida Supreme Court. |
Before starting her own firm, Ms. Mosely served as an Assistant Miami-Dade County Attorney and rose to the position of Chief of the Tort and Medical Malpractice Litigation Section. In that capacity, Ms. Mosely supervised 10 attorneys, support staff, and managed over 600 lawsuits. She oversaw and personally handled lawsuits against Miami-Dade County and Jackson Health System at both the trial and appellate levels. Ms. Mosely tried numerous cases to verdict. She also argued and prevailed before the Florida Supreme Court on the issue of government tort immunity.
As an Assistant County Attorney, Ms. Mosely also represented Miami-Dade County and Jackson Health System in employment discrimination matters in both federal and state court, and before administrative agencies. Her experience includes labor arbitrations, commercial transactions, drafting legislation, and serving as counsel for various county boards and departments.
Prior to joining the County Attorney’s Office, Ms. Mosely worked for a large civil defense firm litigating medical malpractice, complex personal injury, and negligent security cases. She also served as an Assistant State Attorney in Miami where she had numerous jury trials, and handled serious felony cases such as homicides, sexual batteries, robberies, and drug trafficking cases.
